Ramona Nicholson named Woman of the Year

Huffman Names Ramona Nicholson of Sonoma Valley
2010 Woman of the Year for the 6th Assembly District

Sacramento, CA —March 8, 2010, Assemblymember Huffman (D-San Rafael) presented his 2010 Woman of the Year Award to Sonoma Valley resident Ramona Nicholson. Born and raised on Nicholson Ranch in Sonoma County, Ramona Nicholson is responsible for all aspects of their family-owned and operated vineyard and winery. She is held in high regard in the wine industry for her knowledge and expertise in all aspects of wine production and her volunteer work with the Sonoma Valley Vintners and Growers Alliance.

During the ceremony recognizing the State Assembly picks for 2010 Woman of the Year, Huffman praised Nicholson for her accomplishments, for being a role model for women, and he presented her with a framed certificate. The keynote address was delivered by Brigadier General Mary Kight Adjutant General of the California National Guard. Nicholson and her family went to lunch with Assemblymember Huffman, and ended the day at the “Woman of the Year” reception hosted by hosted by Secretary of State Debra Bowen.

The Woman of the Year celebration is an annual event sponsored by the California Legislative Women’s Caucus where a woman from each Assembly District is selected by the respective State Assembly representative to receive recognition for her accomplishments and service.
